The Mission of Texas Doghouse
is to provide dogs with a
fun, safe, clean and caring place to stay and play in a family environment.
We are committed to
providing excellent service
to our customers,
both human and furry.
We understand that leaving your fur-baby with those that you do not know can be hard. At Texas Doghouse, we want all of our clients to know that we treat your dog as if they were our own. When we hire our staff, we have one extremely important rule, they must have a passion for taking care of animals and must love dogs. Proud to be family owned and operated since September of 2011.
David & Heather Murphy - Owners
Want to know more about the people behind it all?
Here's the lowdown on Texas Doghouse owners David and Heather Murphy:
They have been married for 24 years.
They have three wonderful children, ages 19, 20 and 23, who helped build the business in the early days and 2 of whom still help out quite a bit with the daily operations of daycamp and boarding. They also have amazing 3 fur-kids as well! Harley is an English Chocolate Lab, Oliver is an English Black Lab, and Wrigley is a rescue Cavachon.
They have had the pleasure of working with and training dogs since 2008.
Heather grew up in The Woodlands/Spring area and David is from Deer Park.
David is a veteran of the United States Air Force.
They are huge Astros and Packers fans!
Although they have always called Texas home, they traveled with David's job for 7 years prior to opening TDH and were able to visit many parts of the United States. That is how they were introduced to the Doggie Daycare way of boarding. Almost everywhere they went had doggie daycare, as opposed to a traditional kennel, but when they came home, they couldn't find one and had to drive to the other side of Houston to board their dogs. In 2009, they decided to follow their passion of bringing a nice, friendly, and clean doggie daycare and boarding facility to The Woodlands area...the kind of place they would choose for their own dogs. They spent 2 years researching the industry and in 2011 they were the first doggie daycare that doesn’t offer traditional boarding to open in the Woodlands area.
It is their goal to give each and every dog the individualized time and attention they deserve and it is essential to them to create a family environment among their staff, which they have been very successful at. Over the years many people have been unable to tell the difference between their family and their staff. They feel that this makes each dogs experience an even better one. Since the beginning of TDH, it has been of utmost importance to them that they not only offer exceptional service, but that they offer the highest quality service as well. That is why their staff ratios are higher, they use the highest quality/green cleaning products/shampoos and they don't charge for small things that other places nickel and dime their customers for, like giving supplements for upset tummies, adding supplements to food to get dogs to eat, giving added time and attention to dogs who may need it, etc. David and Heather are true dog lovers and are excited about the opportunity to offer your pup with a fun, clean, and safe home away from home!
Katie - Weekend Manager
Katie joined our pack at Texas Doghouse in 2018. She came to us with several years of experience in dog rescue/fostering, business management, first aid/CPR training, and dog behavior training. She enjoys building strong relationships with our clients and their pups. Katie is originally from Pennsylvania, but she got to Texas as fast as she could. She currently resides in The Woodlands with her husband, daughter and two fur-kids, Penny and Waylon.
Krystal - Shift Supervisor
Krystal has been with us since 2019 and has quickly worked her way up. She was in restaurant management prior to coming to TDH and she is currently working towards her Bachelor's in Business Management. She hopes to run a no kill rescue one day. In her spare time, she enjoys dancing, hanging out with her husband and loving on her fur babies. Her favorite part about working at TDH is creating bonds with the pups and their parents! She says "Wagging tails and wide smiles are the best part of the day!"
Bailey - Pack Assistant in Training
Bailey has been with us since 2020. She was born and raised in Conroe and is currently attending Lone Star College pursuing a degree in Animal Science, so she can follow her dream of becoming a zookeeper some day. Her favorite thing about working at Texas Doghouse is how clean the facility is kept and she says she knows that is a strange thing to like. Her favorite dog breed is the boxer.
Taylor - Assistant Manager & Employee Trainer
Taylor is David and Heather's oldest daughter and middle child. She has worked with dogs for almost her whole life. She likes working at TDH because she enjoys making the dogs happy and comfortable when their parents can't be there. Her favorite thing to do is to love on all the doggies at TDH and her favorite breed is the Golden Retriever. She is attending college and plans to obtain a bachelor's in nursing and then plans to pursue a master's degree as a nurse practitioner. In her spare time, she volunteers at a local hospital and she is actively involved in her church's children's ministry.
Madison - Pack Leader
Madison is David and Heather's youngest daughter. She was just 11 years old when TDH opened, so she has spent a good portion of her life working with dogs. She is an excellent dog bather and has a natural ability to get the dogs to feel comfortable. Her favorite thing to do is groom our foster dogs to make them look nice so they get adopted faster. She recently graduated from dog grooming school and is currently working at Woodlands Grooming Co. located inside of our building. Her favorite breeds are Great Danes, German Shepherds and French Bulldogs...she couldn't choose just one!
Meghan - Pack Assistant in Training
Meghan has been with us since 2020. She has lived in Spring her whole life and is currently attending college with the hopes of transferring to Texas A&M, so she can pursue her passion for animals by becoming a veterinarian. Her favorite thing about working at Texas Doghouse is that everyone is treated like family and not just employees. Her favorite dog breeds are German Shepherds, Great Danes and Dobermans.
