The Mission of Texas Doghouse
is to provide dogs with a
fun, safe, clean and caring place to stay and play in a family environment.
We are committed to
providing excellent service
to our customers,
both human and furry.
We understand that leaving your fur-baby with those that you do not know can be hard. At Texas Doghouse, we want all of our clients to know that we treat your dog as if they were our own. When we hire our staff, we have one extremely important rule, they must have a passion for taking care of animals and must love dogs. Proud to be family owned and operated since September of 2011.
David & Heather Murphy - Owners
Want to know more about the people behind it all?
Here's the lowdown on Texas Doghouse owners David and Heather Murphy:
They have been married since 1996.
They have three wonderful children, ages 21, 22, and 24, who helped build the business in the early days and 2 of whom still help out quite a bit with the daily operations of daycamp and boarding. They also have amazing 4 fur-kids as well! The senior of the group is Harley, an English Chocolate Lab, Junior is a rescue French Bulldog, Wrigley is also a senior and is a rescue Cavachon, and River is a Goldendoodle.
They have had the pleasure of working with and training dogs since 2008.
Heather grew up in The Woodlands/Spring area and David is from Deer Park.
David is a veteran of the United States Air Force.
They are huge Astros and Packers fans!
Although they have always called Texas home, they traveled with David's job for 7 years prior to opening TDH and were able to visit many parts of the United States. That is how they were introduced to the Doggie Daycare way of boarding. Almost everywhere they went had doggie daycare, as opposed to a traditional kennel, but when they came home, they couldn't find one and had to drive to the other side of Houston to board their dogs. In 2009, they decided to follow their passion of bringing a nice, friendly, and clean doggie daycare and boarding facility to The Woodlands area...the kind of place they would choose for their own dogs. They spent 2 years researching the industry and in 2011 they were the first doggie daycare that doesn’t offer traditional boarding to open in the Woodlands area.
It is their goal to give each and every dog the individualized time and attention they deserve and it is essential to them to create a family environment among their staff, which they have been very successful at. Over the years many people have been unable to tell the difference between their family and their staff. They feel that this makes each dogs experience an even better one. Since the beginning of TDH, it has been of utmost importance to them that they not only offer exceptional service, but that they offer the highest quality service as well. That is why their staff ratios are higher, they use the highest quality/green cleaning products/shampoos and they don't charge for small things that other places nickel and dime their customers for, like giving supplements for upset tummies, adding supplements to food to get dogs to eat, giving added time and attention to dogs who may need it, etc. David and Heather are true dog lovers and are excited about the opportunity to offer your pup with a fun, clean, and safe home away from home!
Krystal - Operations Manager
Krystal has been with us since 2019 and has worked very hard to work her way up to being our manager. She was in restaurant management prior to coming to TDH and she is currently working towards her Bachelor's in Business Management. She hopes to run a no kill rescue one day. In her spare time, she enjoys dancing, hanging out with her husband and loving on her fur babies. Her favorite part about working at TDH is creating bonds with the pups and their parents! She says "Wagging tails and wide smiles are the best part of the day!"
Tara - Assistant Manager
Tara joined our team in 2018. She has grown up with dogs her entire life and has 2 furbabies, Brody, a mini Schnoodle and former TDH foster that she rescued from Camo Rescue and Zoey, a chihuahua/terrier mix. Her favorite thing about working at TDH is "the bond we each have with all of the dogs, and how excited they get when they come to TDH". Her favorite breed is the Weimaraner because of how smart and sweet they are. She has a passion for photography and loves taking pics of all the dogs. She hopes to have her own photography business one day!
Taylor - Shift Supervisor
Taylor is David and Heather's oldest daughter and middle child. She has worked with dogs for almost her whole life. She likes working at TDH because in her own words, she "enjoys making the dogs happy and comfortable when their parents can't be there". Her favorite thing to do is to love on all the doggies at TDH and her favorite breed is the Golden Retriever. She is currently in nursing school and that is taking up most of her time these days, but you'll occasionally see her working a shift here and there. In her spare time...just kidding, again, she's a nursing student, she has no spare time.
Meghan - Pack Leader
Meghan has been with us since early 2020. She has lived in Spring her whole life and is currently attending college with the hopes of transferring to Texas A&M, so she can pursue her passion for animals by becoming a veterinarian. Her favorite thing about working at TDH is that everyone is treated like family and not just employees. Her favorite dog breeds are German Shepherds, Great Danes and Dobermans.
Miranda - Pack Leader
Miranda has been with our pack at TDH since 2020. She has lived in Texas for most of her life. She is currently attending college and hopes to one day work in wildlife rehabilitation. She loves dogs and has grown up around them her whole life. Her favorite breed is the German Shepherd and she owns one personally.
Bailey - Seasonal Pack Leader
Bailey has been with us since early 2020. She was born and raised in Conroe and is currently attending Lone Star College pursuing a degree in Animal Science, so she can follow her dream of becoming a zookeeper some day. Her favorite thing about working at TDH is how clean the facility is kept and she says she knows that is a strange thing to like. Her favorite dog breed is the boxer.
